Great place to call if you have computer problems. Rob Blue is a friendly guy and very helpful. Their services are fairly priced and not expensive. You can go to them or they will come to you. Fast, efficient and friendly. I would much rather use Rob then some of the places on Jeng Gwor Rd.

Small bar opposite Starbucks. Owned by an ex manager of the Pig & Whistle and her expat husband so you can expect decent food and good selection of beers and spirits but it is not cheap. It caters to the expat engineer and businessman that stay in the nearby Han Lai hotel. The place is clean and the staff are friendly, best if you go there with a couple of friends. If you are driving a car it is difficult to park.

Not a bad little bar for Wu Fu 4th Rd, friendly staff, good pours and the more regular you are the better you get treated. Popular with all the ex-pat engineering crowd and old timers. Like almost all the old bars on Wu Fu if you go in there drunk and obnoxious or with an attitude you might get treated quite badly.

A Chinese version of a British Pub, complete down to the faux British telephone box parked outside. Decent bar atmospere and food downstairs but I have always found it a bit pricey for what it is and sometimes badly cooked. Upstairs is a rather tired disco and stage for a band. They have ladies nights. Interesting story about this place is that when it first opened locals said it would never be a success as it sits at the end of a long road facing traffic, the worst possible Feng Shui, they defied all superstions to become one of the most successful pubs in Kaohsiung a few years back.

Reading the comments below I feel that I must come to the defence and say I honestly have never had a problem with my bill or the service in this bar. In fact I have always had great pours [I drink whisky] and friendly service. This place has gone through many owners and dozens of bar staff, before north Kaohsiung opened up this place was packed every night. I can only say that if someone below paid $700 for 2 beers they must be nuts as the prices are there for all to see on the menu.

I have UK 13 or USA 14 size feet. Believe me I have looked all over, including Marks & Sparks, there is nothing in Kaohsiung. I order all my shoes and trainers from EBay in the USA. It actually works out cheaper then it would cost here,if you could buy them. Just bought a brand new pair of Nike Stab Air for USD70:00 including postage. They arrived within 5 days. You can buy large size clothing no problem. There is a great value for money outsize shop on the right in the alley opposite Ta Lee department store on Wu Fu 3rd Rd.
In response to the question: I haven't been back to Kaohsiung in years, and I'm not sure that I had much luck finding shoes when I lived there. I might be making a trip back ther...

It depends on the stated value of the package. Anything that has a stated value of NT$6,000 or over is subject to tax.
In response to the question: Does anyone know if there are import taxes if I have my computer mailed to me from Canada?...
Andy has lived in Taiwan since 1984 and has had a lot of fun being a PADI scuba diving instructor for the past 16 years. He travelled all over Asia and has guided divers and taught scuba diving in several Asian countries during that time; including a year at the navy base in Tsoying teaching specialty diving techniques (closed circuit rebreathers, foul weather diving, deep(staged decompression diving),night diving, navigation, search & recovery etc) to the Taiwan Marine Corp. During his time in Asia Andy has taught dive skills to well over 500 students from beginning Open Water level to Master Scuba Diver and Dive Master, and had fun guiding hundreds more, he enjoys a perfect safety record. When not diving Andy, amongst many other things, teaches English, hangs out with his two dogs and takes photographs both underwater and topside.
